A Cute Kitten Picture Until I Get Back

So I am leaving for a couple of days for another paper making excursion with my dear friend Connie Herring. I thought I’d leave you a parting gift of a feel good photo of my Ollie when he was a baby.

How cute is he?

BTW Oliver was my first gallery cat. It was he who taught me that I wasn’t necessarily a dyed in the wool “dog person.” I found him as an orphan in a ditch on one of my daily walks in late October. He was very young (he could easily fit in my hand - the mousy toy is about 1″ long) half froze and starved, his momma had left him. AT that time our barn cats were onle a few step away from feral so instinct told them to abandon kittens born so late in the season.

Anyway the day i found him, I had a city meeting (our version of chamber of commerce) and since he was so weak and chilled I just tucked him in my jacket and carried him around on my shoulder (one of the few times being large chested is an asset.) He slept the entire meeting until it was over, then he woke up gave a tiny mew. Immediately everyone had to see him and he got passed around and received all sort of love and affections.

It took me about a week to decide to make him my gallery cat. I had never had an indoor cat so this was a big step for me. He was my gallery cat for almost 4 years before he passed away quite unexpectedly just before Christmas. At the time I had barely begun blogging and used several posts to explore my loss of him. I keep this photo (and many others) hanging in the gallery as I still miss him though it’s been a couple of years already.

What a lovely story, apart from the bit when he died. What a shame. No wonder you miss him. I still miss my cat sometimes and he moved out nearly 13 years ago.

Have a great time paper making and see you when you get back!

So cute! My husband was also “not a cat person” until we adopted our Smokey. he was abandoned in February in Montana by our neighbors who moved away unexpectedly and “forgot” to take him.

He is an absolute angel and now my husband can’t fall asleep until Smokey is in bed with his little furry head on the pillow!

    have fun making paper.

It’s so sad that Ollie died young. That’s a great photo. So glad you’re still sharing his memory in the gallery and online.

Obviously that’s the Special Advanced Mousie Toy with Judo. He looks like the toy just threw him and tied up his hind leg in his front leg! He also missed and bit his own thigh — yep, the advanced judo mousie toy. Perfect training for the gallery cat who may have to guard against attack dust-bunnies and art critics.

I had the distinct honor of being one of Ollie’s semi-tolerated humans. He had a great personality and was a real doll. OK, don’t let this note get to him in kitty heaven as he would definitely be upset that I called him a doll. But he was. We miss you Ollie. Your second generation gallery kitty is special, but he isn’t you!

A really great picture of your belove Ollie. I remember your posts about him, so sorry he left so young.

I have evolved from a cat to a dog person.

Hope you have a great time!

Thanks everybody. It’s taken this long (and loads of Budda love) to get me to a point where I can look at this photo without too much of an ache in my heart.

Robert, that was the funnies thing ever. :D And knowing Ollie that’s exactly what he was thinking.
