A Done Deal

Well it’s official. I signed my name to the bottom line. I now have my own licensing agent, Lowell from America Art Licensing As the ink is not yet dry on the contract (and in fact my cd with images goes into the mail on Monday) I am not yet on their website.

My agent . . . that has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?.

This is a whole new arena for me. But as someone who makes the bulk of my income from artfairs I am constantly looking for ways to pay the bills while staying at home. The older I get the less I like all the hefting and toting that goes along with doing artfairs.

So now when I get approached by someone who say . . . wants to put my artwork on T-shirts, greeting cards, blankets, coffee mugs, tiles, metal or wood products or for their business logo, (yup, I’ve been approached at one time or another for all of those things.) I can say “Absolutely! just give me your information and I will pass it along to my agent.”

Ah, My agent. . . that has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it? Saying my agent gives me almost as much of a warm fuzzy feeling as saying . . . my editor. (Big hug to you Carol Eilers! editor of Apples ‘N Oats magazine)

Congratulations, Mona — I hope this venture is very profitable for you! Angela

It would be nice if it was very profitable. I expect it to be more of a random trickle of income. Perhaps with time it will grow into something. Hard to say.

I am a firm believer that when an opportunity presents itself (and my initial gut reaction isn’t “For the love of God . . . No!” I give it a whirl. :)

Wow, your own agent! Get you! You’ll be wanting your own dressing room next! :P Should I request an autograph now rather than later? :)

  4. MonaMajorowicz Says:

No dressing room needed. But . . . I think I may have to get myself some groupies to put up my displays wherever I go, and then all I have to do is make an appearance. :) Yeah right!

Truth is I like being an unknown Schmoe. At the last artfair several of my artist friends went to eat at an upscale restaraunt. You know the kind, teeny tiny bits of food at incredible prices. Porche’s and such in the parking lot. Mike and I and another good artist friend went to a pizza place instead, where we talked and laughed and ate too much. That my dear is who I am in a nutshell.

And that is why we like you so much :)

Ooh, I really fancied chips and curry sauce tonight from the chip shop! Do you have “fish and chip” shops in the US or is it a very British thing? (I think you call them fries? But fries here are skinny things hardly worth eating - chips have more potato in them!)

I would think the closest thing we have would be like a Long John Silvers sort of afair. Which I would guess is NOT at all what your talking about. Pre-processed batter fried fish from a fast food place.

Burgers and Pizza are king out here though I imagine along the coastal states they must have something similar. I live in the heartland which means I grew up on heartstopping steak the size of dinner plates (literally.) I know I love the fuzzy critters but I can’t seem stop being a carnivore on their account. Ah well.

Chips (for us are crisps for you) and no not much of a chunkier potato variety style fry here. And yes, we love the fries. Those skinny things not worth eating. Made some fresh last night to go with hamburgers (homeade with loads of veg) and salads from the garden. See it is hinting at healthy. :)

  7. Undaunted Says:

Oh of course, I forgot about the chips/crisps thing. How confusing. Are you sure we speak the same language? :)

  8. MonaMajorowicz Says:

    Ummm . . . no. :)
