I misread your second paragraph as referring to the left side of the brain controlling the right hand (and the logical-rational side of the brain that bean counts and does business stuff) while the creative right side of the brain connects to the left hand and left side of the body. Then I reread it and realized you were talking about the critters -- some neat symbolism there for the mental twist you need to make to change tracks!
