Hahaha Mona, that reminds me of a "paint by numbers" I did when I was about 7 or 8! Close up you can't even tell what it is! I wouldn't still have it but for the fact that I gave it to my Nanna as a gift and she had kept it all these years! I shall have to dig it out and stick a photo on my blog...

Hey Undaunted, funny I think it looks better farther away. Ha! much farther. :)

Angela, I have a hard time giving up my 35mm. I am going on horse safari on Monday and plan on bringing tons of film. My equine artist friend had her computer die with MANY reference photos on it. Lost and gone forever. I would be sick.

The other artist I mentioned is Toni Grotti. She lives in Iowa and we have occasionally done shows together. She has her own blog (though I imagine she is also on daily painters) It really is just finished paintings, click here to buy kinda of thing. She relies heavily on the traffic from the Daily painters to get purchases. She does also have an eBay store. She works small like alot of 6x6 and 8x8 but she does quite well with it. She has completely changed styles from what she did when we ran in the same circles. I would never have guessed it was her work. However what she does now is lovely too.

Hi Mona, that is a wonderful article, as Undaunted said, the close up is fantastic -- beautiful! I loved seeing the primary reference photo and hearing about your process. Dozens of rolls of film! I went digital last spring, there is quite a delay in the shot and pushing the shutter button, so often the animal has moved some from what you intended in the shot, so don't feel in the dark ages! I could not deal with the price of all that developing though, right now. I did have a bad technical day the other day and accidently permanently deleted more than half the pictures I had taken during the last year (wasted hours trying to get them back, not have it be true) -- only the ones waiting to be recorded onto CD (which I should have done sooner, were saved) I have not had the courage to tell my friend that I lost some of her family's gatherings shots and videos. Many of my reference shots were lost.

I enjoyed reading several of the articles in Applenoats.

Your pricing wrap -up is very informative. I am still thinking. Thanks for all of your encouragement regarding my dreams and schemes. I will keep the tent rental in mind. If I sell anyting, I will devote the money to a tent, for sure. I want to do the commissions for sure, but want to do either the daily painting (though at the rate I am going, it would have to be a work-in-progress every other day, unless I can speed-up) and or the E-bay -- to get myself out there and to keep practising. Does your daily painter friend sell off of a blog? Does she belong to the group daily painter blog site or have a separate blog? How long has she been doing it?

I am finishing another dog painting this week, third 5x7 CP. Then I am uploading all of my art to-date (at least in the last two years) to a photo service. I may not get to posting the recent work to forums until next week after all that, especially since my mom wants me to come over agailn, don't know if I will or not.

Happy Painting, Angela

Wow, this painting looks even better close up! It's beautiful. I loved reading the back ground behind the painting too - it's a lovely article.
