Catch Penny II
Here is the completed water soluble pencil painting of Catch Penny II. I had been holding off posting it until Carol got her painting. She had been following its progress on the blog, but had wanted the finished painting to be a surprise.

Catch is a 28 year old Morgan owned by Carol Eilers. He has been a Pony Club horse and has taken three youths to USPC Nationals. Two for eventing (he can jump just about anything.) And one for dressage. He “loves” kids and thoroughly enjoys being fussed over.
He is a dressage school master and still ridden occasionally on trail rides. Carol says, he has a naughty streak and can be ornery, but has a marvelous willing attitude when it really counts.
I may have over romanticized him a little bit in the painting. But Catch has always fancied himself somewhat of a playboy. I like to think Catch would approve of his Fabio like hair-do.

Way to go girl, the painting is wonderful. So simple. Just the way I like them. I like the shire a lot too but I didn’t think they came in anything but Black??? Barb
Mona’s painting of Catch Penny is hanging on the wall of the most-used room in my house, and I catch myself looking at it many times during the day. It’s almost as good as having him right there with me!

Thanks Carol, I am so happy (giddy almost) and relieved (Whew) that you really like the portrait.
Barb, The current painting isn’t a Shire, it is based on a Percheron. I say based, because I toyed with multiple colorations and breeds and finally just settled on creating something with loads of screaming color. I just put it in as a WIP in the Shire post. The reference photos for this painting are farther back in the blog. Perhaps I should have made the distinction more clear in the post, huh.
Oh, and Shires come in black, bay, brown and grey. Though I think I’ve only seen black Shires in person.
