I just bought Dawn French's book Dear Fatty for less than 6$ hardcover and that included shipping from the UK. My husband got a couple of others at the same time for less than $1 per book with shipping I think they averaged $3 or $4 a piece. Thought I'd mention it if you haven't tried used online yet. I like to be able to flick backwards and forwards in a book, to refresh my bad memory, which is more difficult online, but I find it hard to get comfortable in bed when I'm trying to hold a book. I find my mobile is ideal for this because I can hold it with one hand and don't have to move to turn pages!! I don't know about the US, but over here our two oldest tv stations are always producing tv drama's of Austen novels. It's interesting to see how they compare with the films. I'm most of my way through Emma now, and I would say that the Gweneth Paltrow film is a pretty good adaption. There's a lot left out, but I think it captures the spirit of the novel pretty well (except Emma likes Jane Fairfax more in the book than in the film, and it was her and not Frank Churchill who first thought the pianoforte was from Mr Dixon).
