Latest Draft Horse WIP
Well, it has been a chaotic ten days or so. Budda has been sick. We’ve had multiple vet trips (the last one we traveled an hour away to get some blood work done.) He quit eating. Not entirely, but only a handful of pieces of cat food per day. He normally consumes about 2 cups. I even offered canned stuffs, not cheapo ones either. He got Fancy Feast chicken and cheese soufflĂ©. Let me tell ya, I think had I nuked it and put it on a plate, Mike would have eaten it. Anyway, I have never had an animal with this sort of problem. After much $$$ turns out he is healthy. Or should I say, disease or organ problems were not the cause. Best professional guess is, he was partially impacted in the gut. As long as he ate something, it was a wait and see. Had he stopped eating entirely, it probably would have meant surgery. The good news is, he is back to being ravenous and is bouncing off the walls. (literally)
The other thing is, I have a patron coming on Saturday to pick up one (maybe two) original paintings. I’m not sure how far it is from Ohio to Iowa, but I figured I should at least clean the cat hair off from everything. Thus my blogging and art making has suffered a bit this week. I’ve got plans, though I imagine it will be a few days before I am back to doing anything artsy.
So for today, this is all I have to offer. I am not completely satisfied with my trailer, as of yet. I kinda wanted it to be very subtle and it is a little too prominent for my taste. (though in this photo it is very washed out. I think my camera flashed and I didn’t notice.) Also, I want to darken his butt and neck area up a bit. Give him even more pop. And lastly, I haven’t come up with a name for him yet. Field Day perhaps? I’ve done too many draft horse paintings to be creative with their titles anymore. As always any comments or suggestions are welcome.

Poor Budda. I’m glad he’s well again
No suggestions regarding the painting. Hahaha! I’m laughing at the thought of me giving you a suggestion! It’s beautiful. As for names… I had a holiday romance with a horse called Brian once…
Budda is better than well, he is back to be constantly in trouble for being naughty. I do adore him though.
I love that line …”a holiday romance with a horse called Brian” Care to expand on that story?
Hehehe there’s not much to tell really. I went to Somerset (England) for a girls weekend break and there was a man hiring out his horses for rides on the beach. He had one horse called Brian who was just the most beautiful horse I had ever seen, so he saddled him up for me especially. When I spoke to my husband on the phone that night I told him I was in love with Brian! And we’ve just always referred to him as my holiday romance! He was such a gorgeous dark brown colour. It was love at first sight!
Good story. Horses seem to bring out the emotions in alot of people. Or maybe it is because I do so much equestrian stuff people like to talk horses.
I tried again to post on your blog. Again couldn’t get the visual verification to show picture. I’m not all that computer savvy but I did click on the box. When that didn’t work I right clicked on it and selected show picture, that also didn’t work. (sigh) Has anyone else commented on having a problem or is it just me. ( A distict possibility, it is me.) Though I did notice no comments on the last 2 posts?
Hmm… that’s a good point - if people can’t comment then there would be no way of them telling me so! Maybe I will try switching the word verification off, but I usually have it on to prevent spam.
I have a few funny horse stories - funny to me anyway. They were mostly scary at the time, but funny looking back.
We use Spam Karma2. It works quite well. In 6 months it has only let 1 spam through and I can go in and verify all that all posts held are truely spam.
I think most horse stories are kinda that funny/scary combination. Big dangerous animals that they are, I still gotta have in my life. Though Chicory is about as sweet and gentle as they come. I forget, do you have horse?
No, I don’t have a horse. I think I’ve only ridden once since I was fifteen, and that was Brian! Most of my stories are from when I was fifteen and my friend was looking after some horses for her uncle, although I had ridden before then.
I’m not sure if I can use anti-spam software with blogger.
Bummer! About both the riding thing and the spam blocker. Did you get it figured out, or is it my computer skills to blame?
Well I’ve switched off the word verification thing, so if you try again you can let me know how you get on.
Hey Undaunted, what do ya know. As you probably already noticed, I was able to post a comment on your blog. Not brilliant writing on my part, but I was really just checking it out.
