Latest Truck WIP

This is probably the last work in progress shot you’ll be getting. The next one will be the finished painting.

Hopefully I’ll get it finished up today. That depends on just how much detailing I want to add. With something like this I could go on forever adding bits of rust.

So to give you an idea of where it’s going, the centermost area is pretty much done. The hood has several layers but many more will be added. And the fender has only the base coat in.

All in all it was kinda fun, though I never would have guessed an 8×10 painting could take me so long to complete. I imagine I have about 10 hours in it at this point. Way too many for it’s size.

Obviously I haven’t cropped it yet. I thought I would wait until it was finished just in case in the end it looks better as my original concept. And now that it’s getting filled it, I think it just might.

Oh, I can beleive that ten hours. That’s fast for something this detailed and layered in colored pencils. I did a 20 hour ACEO once in colored pencils. Great progress! I love that headlight. Looking forward to seeing the finished painting.

They always have surprises too, I think you’re right to abandon the crop. It’s looking good.

Wow 20 hours for an ACEo. Now thats commitment. :)

After all these years it still surprises me how some idea seem right in the pencil stage but once you start filling things in everything changes. I too think it will remain uncropped. Thanks for yout thoughts Robert.

I still don’t really get this layering stuff yet. Sigh. I’ll learn :) It’s looking great though!

Looking great, Mona! I agree, doesn’t need cropping. Also, I don’t think ten hours plus is out of line for pencil work either. Loving this work.
