Let It Snow, Let It Snow

This was yesterday. I don’t know the official amount but I heard from more than one source that we got over 10.” (The thing about small towns is that all it takes is one person to give an opinion and pretty soon it has become a common knowledge reality.) At any rate it was enough snow that we actually drove the tractor to the gallery. And it was a good thing to. Just look at that snow pile behind our tractor. It nearly blocks out the veiw of main street.
And today it is snowing more, probably at least 3.” And here’s the best part . . . tomorrow we’re supposed to have 40mph winds. I did manage to go in today with a vehicle whose primary function is not to plow fields, but left early because the winds were beginning to start. Budda is running wild in the gallery, with 3 days worth of food hidden about. (I’m pretty sure he’ll have eaten it all by tonight, but what else can I do.)
Also because no one came in today (imagine that) I finished up Isabell. Or more correctly stated, all that’s left is minor tweaking. I’ll post her tomorrow.
Wow. I’m so jealous! I can’t remember the last time we had a decent amount of snow here! I remember us having such deep snow when I was a kid, and the wind created snow drifts against the door! We thought it was fantastic fun to be snowed in! I remember walking through a snow drift up to my waist and my friend lost her shoe! (thinking about it, why on earth was she wearing shoes?) So there we were hunting around in this deep snow for a shoe! They were the days!
Some people think it’s stupid that this country comes to a stand still when we have any decent amount of snow (schools sometimes shut etc.) but we don’t get snow that often so I think everywhere should close and everyone should just go out and enjoy it!
Yay for snow!!
Must have felt different to ride into work in the tractor. Thanks for the great picture to show us. I am glad you go some solace to do some painting and mostly finish Isabelle — hope it felt good. I am sure, since everyone out there is so used to severe winters, that everything will get cleared up enough for a return to business as usual starting Monday.
I wanted to give you a link to the art show at the dog show, http://www.artshowatthedogshow.com/
The museum of the dog, http://www.akc.org/affiliates/museum/aboutmuseum.cfm , has a purchase award. I was able to see all of the past show winners for all of the past shows. I found this very informative and fun to look at. But the link only now tells me about the upcoming show. Maybe if will revert after the show(?).
Here is a link for the LSU verterinary show http://www.vetmed.lsu.edu/art_show.htm which at least lets you look at some past shows. Just thought you might be interested in looking. The next couple weeks will show if I get anything done for these shows.
Happy Painting, Angela
Very interesting. I must say my interest is piqued for the vet med show. May get some info for next year. I especially enjoyed looking at the past winners as well as those that sold.
Thanks for posting these links Angela.
Wow, that is a trip. You’re just being colourful as an artist! Great photo, and it’s neat you had time to do Isabell and photo her stages. I love that painting.
