Primary Colors
Flamin’ Sheep
This was almost the title of my post but I was concerned over the type of person who might be attracted to that kind of wordage. Anywho Primary Colors seemed safer.
I was needing a little something fun to do, so I broke out all my glaringly bright colors. My plans include 3 more sheep (which you can barely see penciled in) and some neon green and emerald green grasses.

I should be able to finish this little (11×13) oil pastel painting in one long afternoon. Unfortunately I won’t have one of those for a couple more weeks. My hope was to have it done by this weekend’s event. While I may get it completed I certainly won’t get it framed and ready to go in time. Ah well.
Love the colorful ideas. Love how it looks so far — the colors look simple (whether they are or not)- yet very powerful in drawing one’s eye to it.
I am back from a birthday celebration I went to at an inn for a friend of mine — Sunday into Monday. Was dreading the drive, but enjoyed it. Loved the countryside, even though I live in the country, I never realize how cluttered it is until I get into Amish country. This inn was very isolated — spectactular views. I would love to go there for a week with art materials (if I could ever really afford that, LOL) I really didn’t take many pictures — kick me, too busy either talking with someone or just soaking it in, I guess.
My friend’s adult children want me to do a painting of three dogs for their father (friend’s long time ex husband). However, they do not have any good reference pictures (not a one with the dog looking at the camera at all)– one of them seems to think I could just look up the breed and do it — I tried to say that is like saying do any blond haired blued eyed kid for somebody’s portrait of their child. I left it that one of the adult children will see if she can get some more photos and I will work in a photo editor with the ones they gave me to see what I can do.
Happy Painting to You, Angela
Wow, I can’t wait to see it finished with the neon green grass!
I love Amish country. Sometimes it’s nice to just enjoy. Are you feeling inspired from your trip?
Good luck with the portrait. That’s one of those situations I would have passed on depending on how “good” the friend was. I think your analogy of “any blond haired blue eyed kid” was an excellent way to get your point across.
