Oh, that love feeling, so magical. Wonderful to have people waiting though! Do a series and may love the next even more.

Beautiful composition and start!

Oh, he is fantastic!! I agree with everyone else, if you are in love with him, you should keep him!! (or them as it evolves...)

It feels like he is just growing out of the background, it is like magic!!

Oh, that is so romantic. Wonderful reference and wonderful painting.

You know, if it's not just a phase, you do deserve to keep a few of your own favorites. If you keep it for a while, do more for the giraffe fanciers or use it to get commissions, you'll eventually do one you love even more and sell it then later on. You've only got so much wall space.

But selling every good painting I did, no matter how much I loved it and wanted to keep it, was one of the things that led to my burnout in 1996 when I was stupid enough to get rid of thousands of dollars worth of supplies that I had to replace. I've learned better. Even if I go back to selling art, which I might once I've got a book sale under my belt, I'll still keep my favorites.

No one gets my portrait of Ari on my knee, that one is for me and him. Personal. If you love this, then do your best with it and enjoy the process, recompose it and do another for the giraffe fanciers.

Ooh, it's gorgeous so far! I can see why you're feeling attached to it! I love the colours.

Is what wrong? Wrong to love it yourself? or Wrong to want to keep it and make everyone else wait longer? I've grown attached to some of my pieces, especially the animal ones. They seem to develop a personality of their own. I suppose if you really have to sell it you could always keep a print for yourself as a reminder. :)
