The Latest Friesian Wip
It’s very nearly done here. It just needs some tweaking. Unfortunately I have run out of daylight today.
It has become my habit to work on my art only during daylight hours so I don’t have to work under my desk lamps. This keeps me from being disappointed when the art looks different on the wall than on the well-lit desk. At any rate I’ll get it done tomorrow.
I’m not sure how I feel about it. I think I would have been happier had I done a more realistic background. Mike pointed out to me that I did an oil pastel background instead of a watercolor pencil background. It hadn’t occurred to me that I tend to treat my backgrounds different with either media. But I looked around and sure enough, I do. So maybe that’s it. Anyway I’m anxious to begin the next horse project so I really want to finish this off.
Oh yeah. it is also as of yet untitled. I’m thinking maybe At Liberty or just Liberty

I LOVE it. And I really like the background.
I love it too, i think its got lots of movement and I like the background! : )
Thanks guys. To be honest by the end of day yesterday I very nearly set it on fire. (not kidding) But today I am feeling more optimistic. Maybe a more positive attitude will help me finish it up and be happy with it..
I thought I posted already - wrong. It is looking gorgeous, even not including the background, it as your OP style to a degree. I truly love it — very majestic. Very well done. Can’t see what you are stewing about!
Seeing it in person Saturday…it is gorgeous.
It’s lovely. And I’ve enjoyed seeing it come to life in your blog.
Thanks everyone. I guess not setting it on fire was the right decision after all.
OH.MY.GOODNESS. I TOTALLY LOVE this piece!! I can’t believe you wanted to burn it!! :O
Umm… that’s it. I’m speechless. I just love it. Don’t change the background!
Thanks UD. I worked on it a little more after this photo was posted but all in all it is pretty much the same painting. I will post a final image when we get the prints ready.
