The Lovely Heart Award

I really should have posted this yesterday seeing it was Valentine’s day an all. But it still fell in the same weekend so maybe that counts.

The text to accompany the award reads as follows:

“These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award.”

Undaunted has nominated me for this award. Thank you! I am really touched.

I read Undaunted’s blog faithfully. Part of this award is to nominate eight others and Undaunted is my first choice. I admire her for trying so many various artforms with enthusiasm. Plus she seems very much herself on her blog. (meaning by reading it I get a feel for who she is as a person.) Her genuiness shines through.

It seems clear to me that I am failing in one key area in regards to blogging and that is reading and developing relationships with other bloggers. Actually I think networking plays a huge role in most online activities be it Etsy, Squidoo or blogging.

In my defense I have been spending more time peeking in at a couple of other blogs, (namely Melanie’s and Robert’s) but really need to expand my reading circle more.

Both of their blogs are excellent. Melanie’s ability to not only capture a likeness but also the spirit of an animal is unparalleled. And Robert creates new work daily and shares loads of information (on a couple of additional sites) as well. He is an good resource for those looking to work in oil pastel and wanting to learn more.

So thank you Undaunted. My delay in posting was due to the fact that I ashamably don’t have that many others to nominate. But I very much appreciate the sentiment.

You’re welcome Mona, and thank you so much for the lovely things you said about me! *blush*

I think it can take a lot of time to find blogs that you really like following, and then of course it takes time to follow them. With your busy schedule I understand why you don’t read many. With a blogger account (and I don’t think you need to have a blogger blog to have a blogger account) you can choose to “follow” blogs and then each time you sign in there is a list of new blog posts from those you follow. It’s kind of hard to explain, I suppose it’s like bloglines or one of those other “feed readers”. Anyway, it means that you don’t have to check on every blog to see if the person has posted or not, because if they have it will be in the list (as long as you are following that blog). That’s what I do anyway, and it definitely saves time. :)

Wow, thank you! That is so cool. I’m especially honored that you enjoy reading my blog. I’ve been reading yours and commenting for a while but don’t always know who’s reading mine. Especially when you don’t have a lot of time for reading other blogs.

I used to but then I spent a lot more time painting and writing and it just got away from me. The feeds help but if I have too many to read then they all get away from me en masse and what I see is whatever I happen to be subscribed to and get in email.

Your welcome to both of you. And . . . thank you as well. :)

It’s not so much taking the time to read other blogs, (though at certain times of the year that is definately a factor) as much as it is finding other blogs worth reading. There is so much dry reading out there. Now after a year of writing myself I can see how easily that happens. Hard to stay fresh after awhile.
