Title Search For The Latest Percheron Draft Horse Painting: (If I use your idea you get a free print.)

Okay so while I didn’t exactly make my Apples ‘n Oats deadline with this painting (the article was though) it did get finished shortly after. But it went to press without a title. In fact it still has no title. I am leaning heavily towards The Gathering What do ya’ll think?

Here’s the problem with this title. I have an artist friend who has a horse painting named the same thing (or at least I think she does, I couldn’t find it on her website) and another artist friend who has an entire art installation (which has nothing to do with horses at all) named the same thing. (sigh)

So …since you guys were so helpful last time I thought I’d try again. If anybody has any thoughts on what would be a good title for this painting, leave a comment. If I pick your suggestion (or even a derivative of your suggestion) I’ll send you a free print when they get done.

    Three Amigos…

    Weird Sisters…

    Mare-y Christmas…

Okay, all the ideas I’m coming up with at the moment are loony, but you might still like them to do other paintings. Certainly I hope that’s an idea for a holiday card for you.

    Black is Beautiful…

    Dark Gathering

    Trust

    Good Mates, Good Times

    Triple Trouble

    Do we look fat?

(Okay, my funny bone is still going)

    Three’s the Charm

    Sociable

When I read the email, my mind glitched and I thought you wanted a concept for a new painting with Percherons, so I got an idea. That concept would be “Ancestor Memory” and show a Percheron in gear plowing and muted by mist, another one in the distance caparisoned and carrying a knight in a tournament. Just a thought, don’t know if that idea would intrigue you or not. I think they were closely related to the medieval chargers, weren’t they?

    The Clique

They look like they’re all discussing the viewer, all looking at you and sizing you up. I think that’s some of why my funny bone went off tonight. Hope you enjoyed these even if none of them grab you.

Thanks guys lots of stuff here to think about. I’m liking The Watchers as well as Black Diamonds though I think I need to avoid the word Black.

And Robert, Mare-y Christmas is so going in my next horse Christmas card. This year is gonna be another sheep one, but next year it’s on.

Feel free to add to this list I will be pondered the title thing up until we got to print with it which will be many more weeks yet..

Here’s my hat toss (lightning can strike twice can’t it?):

“Three of a Kind”, “Three’s a Crowd”, “Trio”, “Curious Trio” or with Joan’s suggestion, “Watchful Trio”, and are you ready, “Manage a Trois” — it’s more fun to work (play) at naming yours than my own!

  7. Angela Finney Says:

Oh, one more, “Three is Company”

I love this painting, as I knew I would when you started it.

  8. Angela Finney Says:

    P.S.P.S. I spelled “Menage” wrong.

  9. MonaMajorowicz Says:

I like “Curious Trio” actually I really like “Trio” but I already have a painting by that name. I had an open edition print run of it as well but I really hated the image so despite it selling well I discontinued it this year.

As to Menage a Trois . . . Nooooooooooo. :) Wouldn’t you have been surprised if I was like “That’s it! That’s the one!” But big points earned for making me laugh out loud. (literally)

  18. Lorie Says:

ok, now that I read your apple and oats article, I came up with another:

    Midnight Marauders!!

  19. MonaMajorowicz Says:

That would actually have been an excellent title for the AnO article.:)
