Upgraded

Upgraded is another word in a growing list that I’m getting tired of hearing. It is used to promote everything from airplane tickets to tampons. I guess it replaced “new and improved” as the big marketing tool.

So the problems with the computer last week were just a precursor to the eventual death of our much loved (used) home computer. Mike has ordered new parts (including mother board) and should have it back up and running as soon as parts come in. Now, I do have a gallery computer but generally when at the gallery Mike is using it. So once again, I apologize for being absent from the blog. The good news is with it’s new parts it will be much faster. A newer better version of itself. Upgraded.

Argh! I hate that word too! I even saw in a menu one day “Why not upgrade your meal with a portion of fries?” What?! Another word I can’t stand is mega. Don’t ask me why, it just grates on me.

Glad you’re ok anyway. A faster computer has got to be a good thing.

Heck this is new to me, maybe it hasn’t hit the Uk yet! I have only ever heard of upgraded (or mainly for us its upgrades) in flights and computers… but tampons?? How can you upgrade a tampon!! : )

You know, I’ve no idea what an upgraded tampon would be either. :)

I don’t know about the UK but in the US we are bombarded by advertising (something like 6,000 ads per day) so when they find a word that works, they use it to death.

Mega was common here for awhile but has mostly passed on.

I’m fine. Life’s pretty good at the moment. I can’t wait to have a working computer at home as well as the gallery though. (fingers crossed) maybe by Friday night.
